Let's lay down some definitions
Users
Anyone can browse and consume the wonderful content of BlockBook, advertising-free, and without spending a penny. Users will need to create an account in order to comment, like, share content, follow, and receive notifications.
Contributors
Contributors are people who decide to contribute their content to a creator's BlockBook. They are individuals who want their content to be seen, acknowledged, discovered, and rewarded. This includes writers, videographers, musicians, producers, dancers, poets, AI prompters, engineers, scientists, and more. If you create work and need inspiration and eyes - we got you.
Organisations
Organisations are influential people (creators, artists, writers etc), Brands, labels, agencies and IP holders. They essentially become platforms for their audiences to share content with around their original works and brands. From remixes, mashups, fan videos, elaborations and more.
Blocks
When you contribute your content to a Creator's BlockBook, they become content Blocks and appear as blocks with thumbnails on their BlockBook profile.
BlockBook
A digital page that exposes content Blocks.
Sparks
Sparks are initial pieces of content that "spark" inspiration set by creators. They can be anything from original content, stems, samples, videos, prompts, questions, topics, and much more. Sparks typically take the format of a contest with incentives and rewards for their top contributors. Sparks create categorization around content and usually increase a contributor's chances of standing out. They mainly focus on creating derivative works with licensing terms. Example Spark 1: An influential musician posts a sample sound as a spark and sets rewards for the best mix. Users can download source files and produce a soundtrack. Then they can submit their mix before the deadline.
Example Spark 2: A renowned scientist posts a prompt supported by an attached academic paper. Users can download the PDF and submit their written content around the prompt.
Example Spark 3: A brand can release a spark around building an ad for their latest product. Their Spark content could be a voice-over that users can download to create a visual advertisement.
Spotlight
The spotlight feature enables Creators and Brands to showcase your content by adding it to their Spotlight category on their BlockBook and curate the best submissions. This category holds a fixed position and displays the best content, as determined by creators and their audiences. Getting spotlighted is a significant recognition of your work, so keep striving to earn it!
